Dignitaries Attend Ribbon Cutting for New Headquarters

Springdale, Arkansas — June 01, 2009 – NanoMech and its subsidiary company Duralor held a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 29 that was attended by numerous government and regional officials. The opening of the facility marks a milestone in technology based economic development for the state and region. NanoMech is bringing an array of nanotechnology innovations to market that can help fuel the global nanomanufacturing engine. For example, NanoMech's subsidiary Duralor has introduced the world's first nanocomposite cubic boron nitride coating. This multiple award winning product can extend the wear life of cutting tools and machine components by 300% or more compared to conventional coatings.

At NanoMech's new headquarters in the Springdale Technology Park, distinguished international, national and regional leaders from businesses, communities and academia gathered to celebrate the opening of Arkansas and surrounding region's first nanomanufacturing facility. The ribbon cutting showcased examples of some of the company's world class innovations in application sectors such as machining and manufacturing, energy and lubrication, packaging for retail supply chain, biomedical coatings and body armor. Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe praised trailblazing by the company's entrepreneurs and the public-private partnership between NanoMech and the University of Arkansas. He noted that such efforts give Arkansas a head start in nanomanufacturing that could prove vital to the state's economic future by providing manufacturing competitiveness in 21st Century. Jim Phillips, Chairman of NanoMech, described to the audience the significance of nanotechnology and the economic significance of nanomanufacturing. He said that the vision of NanoMech was to be the global leader serving Arkansas and world. Ajay P. Malshe, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of NanoMech shared the story of his path as an inventor and innovator arriving in US as an immigrant from India and making Arkansas his home to take nanomanufacturing "science to society."
